Remembering A Leader

12/6/2013 4:02 PM -

Today the world celebrates the life and legacy of one of the greatest warriors this generation has ever known.  Nelson Mandela made it his life’s mission to seek equality and freedom for all mankind in a time of unjust division.  His efforts to demand racial equality for the people of South Africa, led to the end of apartheid and a more democratic nation.  Once seen as an impossible task, this great victory earned him the well-deserved title of “The Father of the Nation”.  With humility and unwavering tenacity, Mandela embodied the characteristics of a great leader.  He stood by his belief of rising above oppression.  He is quoted as saying “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”  He will forever be the remembered as the conqueror that showed the world that all people have the right to equal justice, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in their lifetime.
